Welcome to Western's Women in Leadership Club. Just Call us WWIL.

About us

Established in 2015, Western’s Women in Leadership is a rapidly-growing, student-run organization that strives to inspire young leaders at Western University in London Ontario.

We help our members embark on a journey of finding their true selves by organizing events that discuss women’s issues with the help of women who share their experiences. We host events such as keynote speeches, interactive workshops and forum discussions, panel sessions, networking and recruiting events, and more. These opportunities help expand students’ understanding of equality and what it takes to be a great leader.

About our Founders

Iman Bashir, Natasha Crombie, Audrey Hamilton, Brittany James

After acclimatizing to the infinite opportunities to join clubs, organizations, and social groups, the founders noticed a void. Connections with some of the most inspiring women were made outside of school and leadership positions were predominantly filled with males. Where most students would use Western’s lack of initiative as a sign of cynicism, the founders saw it as an opportunity. -- WWIL was born. The mandate was simple yet powerful.

“If you want to run for Prime Minister, you can. If you don’t, that’s wonderful, too. Shave your armpits, don’t shave them, wear flats one day, heels the next. These things are so irrelevant and surface to what it is all really about, and I wish people wouldn’t get caught up in that. We want to empower women to do exactly what they want, to be true to themselves, to have the opportunities to develop.” Emma Watson (Actor and Activist)
